Colin Turkington: “Three top ten finishes would be mega”
Double BTCC champion Colin Turkington is setting his sights on stringing together a trio of top ten finishes at Thruxton today after qualifying P13.
Turkington once again walked away as the top Subaru Levorg driver after posting a best time that was just a under a second off the ultimate pace set by pole sitter Tom Ingram.
Continuing to develop the car throughout the weekend along with his Team BMR stablemates, the Northern Irishman admitted there was nothing left on the table following qualifying but was buoyant in his approach to today’s triple-header.
Reflecting on qualifying with BTCC Crazy, Turkington said: “Looking at the times and how the season has gone so far for us I think the time we clocked is representative of our pace at the moment.
“We always knew it was going to be harder around here and it is hard to be happy with the position we are in but given the work that is going on behind-the-scenes it is further progress once again. I got the most out of the car in qualifying and the car is very different to as it was at Donington Park.”
Looking ahead to the opening encounter today, he added: “Tyre wear is going to be crucial so we must manage the rubber and see how everything pans out. In an ideal world I would like to stay out of trouble, run my own race and see where we fit in.
“If I could come away from this weekend with three top ten finishes then that would be mega but we can’t get ahead of ourselves. Every time we are out on track we are testing and learning the car – today will be no different.”
