Jason Plato: “We’re back in the game now”
Jason Plato has echoed the results of Team BMR in race one by stating he is ‘back in the game’ in the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Whilst team mate Colin Turkington romped to a historic first win in the Subaru Levorg in the opening encounter at Oulton Park, double champion Plato enjoyed a fesity battle with Daniel Lloyd and Gordon Shedden to take the final place on the podium.
In what was a thrilling round 10, Plato produced a strong performance to make it a double podium for the team and laid down the gauntlet for the remaining two races.
Plato told BTCC Crazy: “We’re back in the game now! The car isn’t where we want it just yet but we have made a lot of progress and done a fantastic job. Since free practice two yesterday I knew that we were going to be in a strong position today.
“There was no way that I was going to let that Scotsman [Gordon Shedden] take the last spot on the podium. It is great to be racing again also because that is why I do this job – it gets me hard and gets my pulse racing!
“I’m really chuffed for Colin too – obviously I wanted to be the one that won the first race but it is great because what this team has achieved is unbelievable. This has been a journey five years in the making.”
Turning his attentions to the second race of the day where he will carry 57kgs of success ballast, Plato admits he is gunning for more silverware.
He explained: “I’m feeling feisty – we’ve opened our account and now it is time to add to it.”
