Matt Simpson switches to RML kit from Oulton Park onwards
Matt Simpson has elected to upgrade his Honda Civic Type R to the RML specification shared components from this weekend onwards after running GPRM parts at the opening three events of 2016.
Enjoying what is his rookie campaign in the series with Speedworks Motorsport, the former Intermarque champion had taken a handful of points finishes to date and will now look to progress further up the grid.
Commenting on the decision to change, Speedworks boss Christian Dick told BTCC Crazy: “We had to switch to the new kit sooner rather than later so we assessed everything after Thruxton.
“That weekend had looked like it was going to be a tough one for Matt but he performed really well and scored some good points. After that we decided to bolt the new kit and hopefully we will see the results.”
The remaining drivers to run the old-specification components are Aron Smith, Mark Howard, Stewart Lines, Daniel Welch, Jake Hill, Chris Smiley and Michael Epps.
