Nicolas Hamilton looking to continue exceeding expectations
Nicolas Hamilton has set his sights on continuing to exceed his and everyone else’s expectations in what will be his fourth outing of the season at Silverstone.
Competing at the Northamptonshire circuit for the first time since 2012 when in the Renault UK Clio Cup, the AMD Tuning driver is looking to build on another encouraging performance at Rockingham, where he raced within the pack all weekend.
Focusing his attention on pushing forward into the top 20 in rounds 25, 26 and 27, the BTCC’s first ever disabled driver is relishing the chance to get back behind the wheel of his Monster Energy-backed Audi S3.
“I’m massively excited about this weekend, especially coming off such a strong showing last time out at Rockingham. I haven’t raced at Silverstone for quite a while but it’s a circuit I love with all the history and heritage surrounding it, and it’s almost like a second home in a way as I’ve been there so often supporting Lewis.
“I can’t wait to get on track and get things underway, but it’s a weekend that I think will provide me with a new challenge as the lap at Silverstone is quite short and getting track space is going to be difficult.
“I don’t want to put pressure on myself by saying where I want to finish, but it would be nice if we could replicate the kind of performance we had at Rockingham. We’ve got to aim to start well in FP1 and then build on that across the rest of the weekend and see where we end up. After three rounds, I’m feeling more confident in myself and I feel I’ve built up a good relationship with the team around me.
“We have a good understanding and they are helping to push me along, but I have to make sure I keep my feet on the ground and continue to take things one step at a time.”
