Sam Tordoff feeling confident after bagging third place in qualifying
Sam Tordoff is heading into race day at Donington Park in a confident mood after qualifying his Ford Focus RS in third place.
Sitting in provisional pole position for a majority of the session, the Team GardX Racing driver missed out on top spot late on, ultimately being bumped down to third place.
Underlining the pace that both he and Motorbase Performance have around the Leicestershire-based venue, Tordoff has his sights set on a solid haul of points and silverware tomorrow.
“We’re fast! We qualified on the front row at Brands Hatch and we’ve got third spot here,” the Yorkshireman said following qualifying.
“We’ve showed that we’ve got the pace in the wet and I can score good points, or even win from third.
“I feel the new Ford Focus RS is fantastic and I’m definitely back in the groove now. The car’s good on tyres too and everyone’s in the unknown with the lack of slick running today so I’m confident.”
Tordoff’s Motorbase Performance team-mate’s Tom Chilton and James Cole will line up P8 and P12 respectively.
