Team HARD Switch To Swindon TOCA Engine After Reliability Woes
Team HARD have confirmed that they will see out the remainder of the 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship powered by a TOCA Swindon Engine.
Tony Gilham’s outfit, who field Kieran Gallagher in an ex-United Autosports Toyota Avensis, have endured a character building season running the Toyota/Xctechr power plant, with a host of issues hindering the Scotsman’s chances of bettering his solitary points finish so far.
Failing to start the last two races and retiring from the previous three before that, the Kent-based operation have elected to revert to the stock TOCA engine in a bid to round out there season on a high with Gallagher behind the wheel.
Speaking to BTCC Crazy on the change of engine, Team Principal Gilham said: “It’s no secret that we have had problems with the engine recently so we’ve decided to move to the Swindon engine. The Toyota package was very quick, faster than most in a straight line but there were several issues we suffered with.
“We’ve secured a deal to run with Swindon until the end of this year and all of the 2016 season, whatever package we end up running. This is the first weekend that we are really confident about being able to move forward and see what we can achieve.”
Gallagher finished P17 in the opening free practice session at Rockingham this morning. Free practice two is scheduled to begin at 12:40 with qualifying streamed live on the ITV website later this afternoon at 15:40.
