Five Car Attack For Pyro
Team Pyro have announced that they will be running five cars in the 2013 Renault Clio Cup as they look to defend their title in the series.
Alongside Josh Files and Simon Belcher will be former single-seater racers Alex Morgan and James Nutbrown as well as Karting graduate Ash Hand.
Last season Pyro helped take now BTCC driver Jack Goff to the title and that will be the focus for them again as they focus on trying to deliver that to their current crop of chargers.
Team Pyro Principal Mark Hunt said: “With this line-up, and having seen what they’ve all done in testing so far, I’m really confident we’ll have a strong team this year. We’ve certainly got three or four lads who will be front-runners and if they all work together well, which we’re expecting, we’ve got a great chance of staying on top.
“I’m really pleased with the guys we’ve got, there’s a good new influx into the team with Alex, James and Ash joining Josh and Simon. We want to try and hold on to our championships, you always want to win – that’s why you put all the effort in. We’ve got a good test plan in place between now and the start of the season, we’re really looking forward to it and it should be a great year,” he added.
Files was a consistent front runner in the 2012 season and will start the season as one of the favourites for the title however Belcher can’t be counted out after clinching the Master crown last season. For the new members in the team, 2013 will be seen as a learning year in the rough and tumble atmosphere of the Clio’s however they can’t be counted out all from being in the mix.
Silverstone hosts the Media Day for the series on the 21st March whilst the season kicks off on Easter weekend (30th/31st March) at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.
